For example, the minimum waiting period for a divorce in Washington is ninety days. This is the minimum period required before the court will finalize the divorce. This ninety does not start when you first consult an attorney. The ninety days starts after the Petition for Dissolution of Marriage is filed and then must be served on the non-filing spouse. Both spouses must sign the petition for the ninety days to begin.
