FraustratedYoungGirlHandling a divorce is difficult. It’s even more difficult if you have children.  Anxiety and guilt can sometimes come up during or after a divorce, especially one involving children.  What follows are some tips to help you during those challenging parenting times.

Unfortunately, change is slow. It rarely happens as fast as we want. So, to get through those trying times be try to be patient and accepting.

Listen to your children’s comments about your divorce, their relationship with you, and how they feel in general. Sure, they might say things that are hard to hear, but your children will thank you for it.

Remember, you can’t deal with problems if you don’t know they exist. Don’t feel discouraged if one problem arises after another. This means you have the opportunity to correct them.

The impact of pain and hurt can often be mitigated with love. If your children are in pain and hurting and you don’t know what to do, then consider showering them with as much love as you can.
