Three Questions to Ask Yourself While Co-Parenting

If you are co-parenting after divorce in Vancouver Washington, we want your co-parenting experience to be rewarding and positive. To that end, they have compiled three questions to ask yourself during the co-parenting process.

coparentingBefore listing the three questions, let’s first define co-parenting.

Co-parenting is when divorced parents, despite no longer cohabiting, still share in the responsibilities of raising their child.

The situation, while almost always beneficial to the child, can be difficult for the parents. There’s a high probability that your ex-spouse has the ability to infuriate and frustrate you like no other person can.

So, the following three questions may help you when a co-parenting situation arises and things start to get heated:

  • If we were married parents, what would I do?
  • If we were still married, would this really be a serious issue?
  • Is this about our child or is it more about me, my ex-spouse, or our failed relationship?

These three questions can help you remember that co-parenting isn’t about you, your spouse, or your former marriage, but your child.

Also, the questions may help you avoid the drama that usually comes with a divorce and perhaps inspire you to be a more mature parent, avoid snarky remarks and take the high road.
