Unrealistic Expectations

A common mistake made by a divorced parent is having unrealistic expectations about how their child should behave.

Divorce can be extremely arduous for a child. Even if they act like they’re doing okay, most lack the experience and knowledge to properly digest what has happened to their family.

Therefore, contemplate having realistic expectations of your child. Remember, they’re not little adults.

If you’re having trouble digesting this tip, consider how difficult your divorce has been on you. If divorce has been tough on you, with your age and wisdom, think how tough it’s been on your child who’s still developing these attributes.
