New Book Helps Explain Your Divorce to Your Child

Lambert Law Office in Vancouver Washington is a group of dedicated and compassionate divorce attorneys. That’s why we are excited to tell you about a new book that might help explain your divorce to your child.

Child ReadingThe book is called Family Changes: Explaining Divorce to Children. It’s written by Azmaira Maker, PhD.

Maker’s picture storybook explains divorce, and the impact it might have on one’s life. It’s aimed at children four to eight years old. That’s a tough age at which to understand divorce.

The book’s main character is a bunny named Zoey. Her parents are going through a divorce and she asks many of the questions your child might ask and feels many of the things your child might feel.

At the end of the book there’s a section for adults. This section contains a list of questions designed to help both parties navigate through your divorce.

One of the best things about Maker’s book is there’s not a happy ending. Instead, it suggests that dealing with divorce is a long-term process that involves many conversations, not one.

Family Changes: Explaining Divorce to Children has won several awards and focuses on a heterosexual couple.
