Family Lawyer in Vancouver, WA Can Help With Legal Complications

Many in the public would be surprised to learn what Vancouver, Washington family lawyers know about children born as a result of rape.

Washington is one of 34 other states that allows those accused of rape to seek child custody. This means that a woman who had to deal with being assaulted could then be required to share a child with that attacker.

There are not statistics to indicate how many children have been involved in this type of arrangement—rapist sharing custody with the one he abused.  One Representative in Kentucky doesn’t want there ever to be a situation that any woman should deal with.

With 25,000 to 32,000 women becoming pregnant each year as a result of rape, it is possible that such a circumstance could occur.

The Kentucky bill would bar rapists from seeking custody rights. Right now the proposed law, if passed, would only apply to those who are convicted of first degree rape. Anyone convicted of a lesser degrees of rape or incest might be added to the bill as the legislative process proceeds.
